KBOCC, in conjunction with the Copper Country Intermediate School District’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, provides students with a strategic pathway to future career success. Going beyond traditional academics, CTE offers rigorous, hands-on learning experiences in a diverse range of high-demand fields. From healthcare and engineering to robotics and entrepreneurship, our programs equip students with industry-relevant skills and nationally recognized certifications.
CTE ADMISSIONS APPLICATIONBUSINESS & ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The Business/Entrepreneurship CTE Program is designed to give the students an in depth look at the skills, knowledge and competencies necessary to be an effective entrepreneur. In addition, students interested in pursuing a career in business other than entrepreneurship will be provided access to the necessary skills to be successful in the world of business. Coursework and other activities, including marketing to real-world clients and interaction with local business owners, are all designed to give the students a comprehensive look into running a business.
LEARN MOREMICHIGAN POST SECONDARY CREDIT AGREEMENTCERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program is designed for students interested in exploring nursing as a career or working as a CNA. The course provides comprehensive training, including theory, lab practicum, and clinical instruction, to prepare students for the Michigan competency evaluation exam. Upon passing, students are placed on the state registry, making them eligible to work in hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare agencies. The program also enhances communication skills and covers professional, legal, and ethical healthcare issues, while offering insights into employment opportunities through field trips and guest speakers.

The Health Careers program provides students with the opportunity to explore the many available career options in the health-care profession. Students learn CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation), emergency first aid, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, and the communication skills necessary for success in the health care field. After completing the core curriculum—including communication, professionalism, infection control, legal/ethical issues, confidentiality, and safety—students gain hands-on training and job shadowing in local facilities. They also research health care careers through reading, online resources, and educational videos to explore professions of interest.
LEARN MOREWELDING & MANUFACTURING
The Welding Technologies/Manufacturing program equips students with entry-level job skills in welding or prepares them for further education in community or technical college. The curriculum includes safety, steel cutting and bending, various welding techniques, project layout, and shop maintenance, along with employability skills. Students complete welding operations and a project, with opportunities to take American Welding Society Certification tests in ARC, MIG, and Flux Core ARC Welding. Successful certification earns a nationally recognized certificate, valuable for employment.
